Lanber_sporter
Hi, I have recently bought a new Lanber o/u, I am new to the sport and have just been doing clay shooting. I purchased a box of 1000 steel shot 24g cartridges as they were cheap, and was wondering does it make much of a difference when doing this type of shooting what you use? I noticed most people using 28g at my local shoot.
CEREALTHRILLER
It wont make the slightest bit of difference to you hitting the clay as long as you point the barrels in the right direction. I've read that steel shot can cause ricochets so i've never used them.
Ferret Master
The 28g will be most likely lead. FM
beatingisbest
Have you made sure the lanber is steel shot proof and has less 1/2 chokes or less?
Markio
Have you made sure the lanber is steel shot proof and has less 1/2 chokes or less? This is a very good point. I have a Lanber, an older model and it's not proofed for steel. You're looking for the Fleur-de-Lys (Google Images here) symbol stamped near/around the chambers. Lanber_sporter
Thanks, yeah it is steel shot proof. I didn't think think it made much of a difference just wondered other peoples take on the matter
Scarpa
I use a lot of 24g steel for clays... it doesn't half save money. Never noticed a difference apart from less recoil.
Peter De La Mare
Was shooting 40 yard clays with 24gr steel 7.5's at the weekend. Broke them very well indeed. Very good patterns as well. I think that's pretty much the furthest I'd go with them though.
