sweepy
Well I thought I can't wait any long and have written to the police asking them to remove the restriction that I have to have a mentor. So have gotten 2 letter 1from the landowner and one from my mentor and whilst sending those I thought what the hell lets go for an open ticket as well. With 27years shooting experience and a government certificate on safe rifle handling which was obtained 20 years ago its gotta be worth a try. Wish me luck Sweepy
silver_fox
Good luck, I've just asked to have mine changed into an open ticket. I was told that there's no way it will be done until my first renewal.

tulkyuk
Good luck sweepy, chesire police have told my mate that 12 months is normal for them. I'm his mentor and spoke to them recently about it and they told me the same, though they did say to send them a letter and they would consider it on all its merrits etc, etc.
njc110381
Good luck buddy. I hope they let you go out without your mentor, it really is great to go out for the first time on your own. I still shoot with the guy who was my mentor, it's more fun shooting with friends. It's always nice to have the option of going on your own though. As for the open ticket I wish you luck (and silver fox too)! Some forces can be really mean on that subject, but others are very fair. I got my rimfires opened at the same time as my mentor was removed, but my .223 and 6.5 are still restricted to cleared ground. That was after four months, which proves it's possible. Forget the opening at renewal. Nag like hell and provide solid evidence of your ability until they give in
sweepy
Well I have had the Police on the phone regarding my restriction of having a mentor and luck enough they said that they have no problem in removing it . Obliviosly I will still go out with my mentor but its great now that I can pop out on my own a as and when I want. In regards in getting an open ticket that was not so good,I'll have to wait another 1 year at least on the 243 and they are just gonna go back over my file to see if Ican have an open on the 22 so here's fingers crossed (not that is a problem as everywhere Ishoot has been cleared for minium of 243 anyway). I must stay was very impressed with Esses police as I didn't post letter until Friday so thats only 2 working day and they informed me that i'll have ticket in back in the morning. njc110381
That's good news. I hope they open your rimfire for you too. It's great to be able to just turn up at any farm at short notice and bunny bash, and the chances are you'll use the rimmy a lot more than the .243 anyway. If they don't open it then just plod on at your regular permissions. At least you can shoot on your own, which is great
sandersj89
Wrote to my police, Sussex on Monday, to have the silly DSC1 course restriction removed from my FAC for the 243 now that I have passed the DSC. Also asked them for an open ticket on both the HMR and 243, will see how they treat it. Spoke to BASC first and they suggested it would be fine and would support it if I had an issue, not heard back as yet....
sweepy
Got FAC through the post today,so not bad 4 working days from me posting it. Restriction gone and an open for the .22(or I think so,if some could just confirm this) 22 rf shall be used for shooting vermin and ground game and for zeroing on ranges or land over which holder has lawful authority to shoot where as the 243 states land deemed suitable by the chief of police of that area where the land is situated Sweepy
markbivvy
22 rf is open. 243 on cleared land.

bob300w
22 rf is open. 243 on cleared land. Yep, as mark says, 22 is open, 243 is restricted to approved land..
njc110381
I thought that's what you'd get. Open .22lr and restricted .243. That's still very handy though, so well done Mrs sweepy, why do you ask about the chest freezer? It's not like there's going to be any room for your stuff if you do end up getting one!
