Turnscrew
Anyone know which are the best/cheapest 12g carts for rabbit & pigeon, which can also be used for game later in the year and still be used for clays? And where to buy 'em! Edited April 29, 2008 by Turnscrew
Ferret Master
You will never get a cartridge that is ideal for both. Just buy some 28g 7.5 or 8's for clays and some 30-32g 6's or 5's for game and pigeon and it is my preference to get them with a fibre wad. beatingisbest
28g 6's is the closest you are going to get to an all rounder. Most clay grounds will accept the use of 28g 6's aslong as it has a fibre wad.
Ice
I have been using 24gram, Gamebore super steel, no 7's, drop pigeons, rabits clays at 40 - 50 yards no problem, £3 for 25. Seems good to me
al4x
any 30 gram 6 pigeon special will do all 3 fine, they are as close to an all round cartridge I even use them on clays as well. I tend to shoot just as well on game with them they just lack the fancy name

FM and how do you work that out i use hb pigeon for clays game rabbits pigeons ect.so why wont you ? Most clay clubs, and any CPSA competition limits you to a maximum of 28g of 6's. There is little point using more expensive cartridges on clays that are potentially less effective due to larger gaps in the shot pattern. And I thought you used claybusters for clays which are a 28g 7.5? I use HB Pigeon 6.5 fibre for quarry and whatever 28g 8's fibre I can get my hands on for clays in the 12 bore. I use a 26g 7.5 fibre homeload in my 20 bore for clays and 28g 6's fibre for quarry. FM
