al4x
Why are motorists so angry at the oil companies The government have kept very quiet while the media berate the oil companies for making large profits. Yet roughly 70% of what we pay for our fuel goes to the government in taxes Plus they are adding on 2p more fuel duty per litre in October The large oil companies make something like 1% of thier profits from petrol retailing in the UK. The problem is the government taxes, not the oil companies BROWN OUT BROWN OUT BROWN OUT except the oil companies get the stuff out of the ground then sell it to their own retail side at a cost that means they look like they're on tiny margins. Otherwise they wouldn't be making the billions they are. But the government is the big gainer and with the way GB has spent money like its water every penny helps. On top of that 70% tax the oil companies will also have paid tax on the profits they have made so the government actually makes even more. cleaner4hire
its all pretty bleak atm tbh. Add the daft prices of fuel to the planned stealth car tax increases = unhappy time for ppl who have to drive
mexican bob
1.20 pounds for a liter of fuel? That might be painful. My local price for gasoline is $3.50 per gallon. With 3.785 liters per gallon, what is the rate of monetary exchange these days? I've heard that the dollar is weak. Our percentage of State and Federal tax per gallon is probably similar to yours. State tax is a sales tax percentage. You guys must be made of money.
cubix
Here's your answer - set up a part time business as pest controller. You don't have to make a profit - reclaim all or some of your motoring costs every year on your tax return - it will reduce your tax bill from your proper job. If you have 2nd car then put all of that in as a business asset, you can claim back 25% depreciation in its value every year as long as you only use it for the business. Go speak to your local business link, or small enterprise start up thingy that your local authority will run. You could also put the cost of guns, ammo cothing through. You just need to tell your local tax office that you also are a self employed person a well as your normal job.
