charlie 1
Well guys i am in the process of purchasing some new wheels and tyres. i have been quoted on both modulars and alloys. the alloys are alot more expensive. please could someone explain the difference between alloy wheels and modular wheels? also is one better for offroading then the other. thanks. charlie
flash
depends on the alloy and the steel. and also what kind of offroading ull be doing. all the professional off roaders, use alloys, specifically mach5s. but for general off roading either will do. the advantage of a modular is that if it bends it can be rebent to a degree, where as a alloy may just shatter. charlie 1
Thank you for that m8. i won't be doing major offroading but i will once in a while be doing some rough stuff.
Edward
Nothing to do with off roading but a mate of mine had a new defender with alloys hitched up to his 2.5ton digger on its trailer and after abit of a bang and a crash he was sitting half afoot lower and one of the alloys had shattered where the spokes meet the rim a 5 spokes, he was not happy, I would go for steel if any towing is envolved. charlie 1
ok i will have a look at price and look into them. i was looking at recip trial tyres. any thoughts on them? i have heard they are also great tyres. i am slightly inclined to get mud terrains over all terrain as when i do go offroading it will be fairly rough stuff. thanks again for all advice given

cappy0766
modulars are steel mate. if you bend one you can hammer it straight!
