What do you think .Harnser . Many years ago whilst I was on a long trip to the States I went through a lot of hassel trying to get a customised Springfield .45 pistol exported back to the UK. I had a slot on my ticket for it and the manufacturers were happy to do the custom job and export it. But the stumbling block was the US customs paperwork. I ended up having to apply for an end user certificate as an arms dealer! It proved to be a fairly impossible task so when I got back to the UK I bought one through a UK dealer, (though not the custom job I wanted). Hopefully things have changed for the better now and your hypothetical friend can gift you the hypothetical guns.
Blackbart
I am hypotheticaly interested in an answer to this one,do you think it would make any difference if the person gifting them was an american citizen?Who is living in the uk for a while and lets say,,wanted to bring some of his guns here and after a short while decided he didnt like his guns anymore and decided to gift them to his english buddy! ALL errrrm hypotheticaly speaking of course.
casts_by_fly
bart, realistically speaking I can talk to my situation. I'm an american citizen living over here. I have an FAC and SGC. When they were granted, I asked the police force to input my currently owned guns directly onto the certificate as I already owned them and knew all of the information. Then, when I was home for a visit I brought them back. Customs were no problem as they were on my certificate. I can sell those guns just like any other FAC or SGC holder (and in fact am likely to sell one or two). If your hypothetical friend had the necessary certificates to possess the guns here, then they also have the ability to sell those guns (or gift). Thanks, Rick
