how bad is it?

hi guys,

 

i bought a bolt action 410 on the 24th september.

 

problem is i only rememberd that i have to inform the fire arms licencing department this morrning!! [9th october] so ive sent it off registerd post today and they will get it on monday 11th october , this is over two weeks!

 

what i want to know is how strict are they about this will i loose my licence??

as it is supposed to reach them within one week

I doubt that you will loose your SGC. If firearms dept do contact you, be honest and admit your mistake. Accept any form of verbal ear bashing that they may issue, and make sure that you dont cockup again!

 

If matters progress beyond this contact BASC without delay.

Don't forget the Seller had to notify them as well.

Assuming they did that immediately. the Authorities already have a record of the transaction.

I doubt if they will make much of it, unless you have an officious Firearms Officer.

Even then, they are hardly likely to take away your certificate.

I agree with Cranfield and Webber you are unlikely to lose you licence provided you have not offended similarly and persistently in the past. You are supposed to inform them 'without undue delay' The 7 day condition has been superseded. In which case I doubt that they will be too concerned.
