SirMorris
Dear All, I came across a semi-auto called Mitral (or Metral), Italian make... Was quite cheap: 525 quid new... looked and felt quite solid. Anyone familiar with this make.. your opinion is most appreciated. Thanks and regards
tweedledee
buy a beretta/ remmy. something with good reviews .that kind of money will buy you a nice 2nd hand example and it will hold better resale as some lesser known guns
SirMorris
hi Tweedledee, I am least likely to buy that gun, but i am intrigued and curious! it looked very nice. Was wondering why isnt as successful as the Escorts despite being italian make.
tweedledee
escorts are a lot cheaper hence more popular.i never heard of a semi by that name.just make sure you have comeback.it may well be fine .i`m speaking as a person who once had a bad auto. trust me it was a steep learning curve. Some semi autos are very fussy with the cartridges that they will cycle.
peter-peter
Never heard of metral but the others. and i've had em all. remington 1100 etc good gun but clean it every shoot.7/10 nice gun to shoot. franchi same as above not as reliable. 5/10 winchester keep it clean as above 7/10 bit heavy for an auto. fabarm recycling poor needs constant cleaning 6/10. webley and scott lifetime guarantee it needs it 5/10 its an escort with another name. hatsan escort, 4/10 needs constant cleaning some work well some are **** nice to shoot though, benelli a better gun but a bit of recoil due to the system 8/10 easy to clean. can be picky on cartridges brownings 9/10 good reliable guns as to be expected and hold value. beretta just unbeatable. 10/10 will recycle down to hushpowers. little cleaning required totally reliable. the best auto on the market bar none. 2shots
Im sure pietta made a lot of the replica guns about, and I can remember, a review in one of the mags that said the auto was value for money from an old established gun maker?cant remember which mag though, quite a while ago now. SirMorris
Pietta Mistral Semi auto 12G 545£ Made in Italy sounds a good deal But the big question remains: what about spares!!
2shots
Pietta Mistral Semi auto 12G 545£ Made in Italy sounds a good deal But the big question remains: what about spares!! Thats the problem if your guarantee is out or the dealer stops selling them, the company still exists but trying to get the parts is a nightmare, especially with more and more companies not supplying across borders.Id stick with the more popular brands. Gordon R
On a SBS or O/U, spares would not be my first concern. However - an auto - so many bits to go wrong. Spares for one of these - can't really see them being a viable proposition. So many other autos out there with plentiful spares. Why take the risk?
