sean johnston
If you can afford it neil,i would get yourself a divers bottle to reacharge your gun.I have a 12 litre 232 bar one, but i am just a lazy ***. :(
neil
So how big is a 12ltr bottle?is that the size that scuba divers use or are they bigger again?i'm still looking at the moment as the rifle wont be here until end of this week/early next so i'm not in a big hurry :(
Hammergun
I've got the Logun pump. No complaints, seems pretty good. You can carry it about without worrying about insurance unlike a gas bottle.
sean johnston
Hi neil,I have a 12 litre 232 bar bottle which is designed for divers to use.Mine is roughly 2 ft tall x 8" in diameter. Get a bid in for the one on e bay,it is very cheap. Regards sean. :(
neil
its cheap but its only 203 bar,i wanted 232 minimum really
sean johnston
I think you can get stirrup pumps for about £99.00 (rws) from michael tawn (airgun world or air gunner).Other than that you could pay up to £150-200 pounds for a 12litre 232bar bottle.I had a much smaller bottle when i had a falcon fn19 probably same size as one on e bay,and it provided plenty of charges. Regards sean :(
neil
The thing that put me off a pump was tht someone told me that it introduces moisture into the gun which i didnt really like the sound of,have you heard of this? 1 of 5
Crawfords will sell you a 8l 300 bar bottle and guage for £140. Many people move from a pump to a bottle but virtually none move the other way.

sean johnston
Hi neil, the simple answer to your question is,keep it where it wont get knocked about and also a place where you can get at it easy. :( Regards sean.

gasman
I do some SCUBA too, and while you will pay some extra for a 300 bar rated bottle you will be able to go longer between refills. Having said that most SCUBA shops refill bottles for free for their SCUBA customers (it's only compressed air and takes about 30 seconds) so the gift of some birds from the field or an invitation to go shooting should go a long way. Bear in mind that for a PCP rifle the bottle will be pretty much useless when the pressure is down to 150 bar so you should aim to refill it around 180 bar (hence the value of the 300 bar vs 240 bar bottle). Finally - SCUBA bottles are required to be serviced periodically and need a valid service stamp on the neck to be refilled. This needs to be factored in to the overall cost - though if you say it is for an air weapon you may get some local "flexibility" HTH :(

everygoodnamewastaken
Are bottles better than pumps in the longrun? and how much is a fill up of air?
gasman
If you buy and service your bottle at your local SCUBA shop chances are they will refill it for free. They should also fit any special valves / adapters necessary to fit the gun filler nozzle. Its only a few seconds work for them.
everygoodnamewastaken
I think i'll just go for a pump :( :(
Pigeon Pieman
EGNWT, at least with your own pump you don't have to rely on other folk for a refill. Typical to run out when no one is 'open' to top you up!! :( :(
rjimmer
These chaps have a lot of experience with all sorts of airguns. http://www.southdorset.ftc.btinternet.co.uk/ These started on my place but have now got somewhere more suitable. They should be able to put you in touch with someone in your area if you don't want to travel far.
