JonnyR
Heard from one of the local farmers near here that 3 of them shot 406 in 6 hours, 2 'til 8 over barley knocked over by wind and rain. Gutted I wasn't there but it is being cut next week so Stillsy and I will be out on it then. Jon.
Cranfield
It does seem that the cereals are getting all the attention at the moment.

Jim Sarakun
FIRST TIME ON THE BARLEY TODAY. TWO VERY SMALL FLAT PATCHES, PROBABLY U.F.O. LANDING GEAR INDENTS. SAW THE BIRDS HAVING A FEEDING FRENZY ON IT, SO SNUCK UP, PUT 2 SHELLS INTO THE FLOCK AS IT ROSE, DOWNED 6, PEGGED THEM OUT AS DECOYS, SAT IN THE NEARBY DITCH, WAITED AN HOUR, GOT SOAKING WET FEET, BUT THEY NEVER CAME BACK. MY, HOW I HAD FORGOTTEN HOW THOSE PESKY SEEDS GET INTO EVERY NOOK AND CRANNY. FARMER HAD CUT A STRIP OUT OF THE RAPE YESTERDAY. THE SHOOTING THERE WAS BETTER, THOUGH THESE LAST 2 HOT DAYS HAVE BEEN VERY QUIET OVER MY PERMISSION. FOLLOWED A FLOCK FOR 3 HOURS YESTERDAY TOO, THAT LANDED AND SETTLED IN A FIELD OF PEAS I HAVE NO PERMISSION OVER. SUCH IS LIFE. MOSTLY LEGWORK ASWELL, AS US POOR SHOOTERS CAN'T DRIVE UP THE HEADLAND TILL IT HAS BEEN CUT, NATURE RESERVE THINGY. WISH I HAD PACKED MY BIKINI. RAIN TOMORROW. THAT SHOULD COOL IT DOWN SOME. BRING THE BIRDS BACK OUT TOO I HOPE. WHAT A LIFE EH?
JonnyR
Hi Olly, Not sure when I will out next - I am shooting the Beretta World on Sunday so likely to be at Barbury on Saturday practising. I had 6 off the same Barley field yesterday in an hour with no magnet, deeks or hide - just sat in the Barley and waited for them to come over. Get James to check with **** but he said he was going to spray the barley off today in which case they won't be interested. Next week it will be cut so then we should be able to get on the stubble. Also some of the rape is likely to be cut in a couple of weeks so more stubble then! ps Shot 29 at the valley on Sunday - not happy! ;-) cheers, Jonny.
