Teal
http://www.means2.com/Auction/auction.cgi?category=elec This may be of interest to some of the members here- you can bid ebay style for lots of shooting in various parts of the country. The money raised will go to pay for the freehold of marsh land to secure the future of the Rockland Wildfowlers Association. There are a couple of lots which I might be interested in, it remains to be seen what price they reach.

starlight32
Is Rockland in Norfolk? Yep sure is, I shoot Rockland's ground. The Broads has some prolific goose shooting and one of Rockland wildfowlers area's is probably the best in Norfolk.... Handy old jobby sitting right next to an RSPB reserve. If anyone does win it on here and if you are travelling any distance I know a shooter friendly guest house right near the place of shooting, cheap too. starlight32
I have just made a bid by mistake on one of the items. A day's guest flight on a club I am already a member of. Still its all in a good cause I suppose.

Mungler
I think the auction has missed a trick by only offering "1 gun" lots.
starlight32
I think the auction has missed a trick by only offering "1 gun" lots. That can be resolved I'm sure- I will have a word with the club chairman tonite, and get back to to you all. Teal
I rather forgot about this, and it's ended now. Did anyone manage to buy anything, what sort of prices did the lots go for?
starlight32
I rather forgot about this, and it's ended now. Did anyone manage to buy anything, what sort of prices did the lots go for? Very good auction results have been achieved. However I must add that people never cease to surprise me by bidding more for a one day guest flight in a club than yearly membership costs............ scolopax
I won a day, and also missed out on another but was then able to negociate a second (successful) chance. So it looks like I'll be heading down to the Ouse washes and to Rockland this coming season  . Somebody came in with some really big bids, way over the previous highest bids, to secure some of the best shooting days. I do not know who he was but it would not suprise me if it was not the same chap who did similar on the Humber fundraising auction a year ago. I suppose bad for the other bidders but very good for the club. Sometimes people pay quite a bit for these days on occasion because many are on private marshes or very exclusive clubs. Also even wildfowlers will dip into their pockets if they know it is for a good cause .
