njc110381
Sorry guys but I've just got to have a little brag about this! As some of you may know already I got my rimfires opened about two months ago, which with less than six months experience (granted 11/07) was regarded as good going. Well the other day I realised that I was told I could have the .223 and 6.5x55 opened too when I got five written permissions, so went out on a favour run to some of my farmer people. With another three permissions signed off they were off to my FEO with a begging note, and now the FAC is back and open! How great is that. Just a tad over seven months and I have all my rifles under open conditions. They've got a few minor details wrong (it's traditional you know) so it will have to go back, but never mind. I can't believe I'm allowed out on ground of my choice with my 6.5x55 so soon. I guess all my hard work has paid off, and is a good example to any beginner that if you put enough time and effort in you'll often get what you want. cubix
Proper open, with no chief plod deems it suitable? Result if so.
AndyCM
well done njc a passion for the sport and getting out in the field does pay off. shame you are not a little closer to me as a few foxes will need lamping soon Cheers AndyCM (Open centrefire after 1 year - I was 'active' with ammo use + demonstrating knowing when not to shoot)
njc110381
Proper open, with no chief plod deems it suitable? Result if so. Shortened down to cut out the quarry info it reads...."The .22, .17, .223 & 6.5 rifles, sound moderators and ammunition to which the cert relates shall be used for <long list of pests and targets> and for zeroing on ranges, or land over which the holder has lawful authority to shoot" I reload all my ammo. I've told them roughly how many rounds I've used as I've only bought 60 .223 rounds in over two months. They can also compare to my rimfire count for a rough idea. They seemed happy which is good. Andy, it's good to hear you say that. I may be too far away, but I'm sure there's another half decent open cert holder near you that would like to meet up. I find shoting with company much easier and more fun, especially if lamping

Get ground cleared in the smallest possible sections, so you can haul them out to check a new bit as often as possible. It's a pain for you, but a bigger pain for them. Tell them you often get new offers, but can't accept them because of the restrictions. I think shooting for work now and again helped me. I made a big fuss about losing income when I had to turn down shooting
CharlieT
I see that you now have your eye on a 300RUM or a 375HH !!!!!............open ticket I hope.
njc110381
.375H&H, yes. I need to read a lot first though and find out the view of the FEO. If I can use it here I'll buy it, if I can't then I'll not bother It should be open, otherwise they'll have to clear everything again (not my loss I suppose)
