Peter De La Mare
Thanks very much. It is a very nice gun indeed and I'm loath to sell it. It doesn't fit me so I suffer a swollen cheek whenever I use it. I'd rather not start chopping it up to lower the comb to suit me so would rather sell it and buy something else that fits. Peter, if it is smacking you in the cheek it is because the gun is too low and you are lifting your head off the stock to see the target. Surely having the comb made into an adjustable would be the answer??
Peter De La Mare
Hi HG. I also have a Guerini that I shoot well with without suffering any ill effects, and that has a lot lower comb. I have to really press quite hard down on the stock to see a flat rib on the Browning.
Hardwoods Green
Hi Peter, in that case the Browning needs a 'shave' off the top of the comb, i know a gunsmith that could make it exactly like your Guerini without any of the pain and hassle of having to sell it. Just a though, you'd never know it had ben done and he would refinish the stock aswell. He did a Miroku for me a few years ago as it was too high for me and made a marvellous job. A flat rib is not what you want to see IMO becuase then your are too low on the gun. it should look more like this (the picture on the left is what I see) using a laser bore sighter for alignment Edited July 25, 2008 by MGMan
Peter De La Mare
Hmmmmm.....that's odd, that looks more like the amount of rib I'd see using a trap gun. I'd be shooting way high on my sporter if I saw that....unless it's all in my imagination of course.... I'll have a look when shooting this weekend. It'll either improve my score or I'll never hit anything ever again if I start staring at the rib all the time HG, I'd be interested in getting those details from you. At the moment I'm hoping also to upgrade as well and combining both fit and upgrade in one go appeals to me. If I can't do the upgrade then I'll definitely get it adjusted. Hi Peter, the guy that did mine is called Simon Willmore and he is the gunsmith at Doveridge Shooting Ground(my local) his number 07816 918301 and as for upgrading the newly(ish) opened shop up there is full of guns. What are you looking for?
Peter De La Mare
I'll have a look when shooting this weekend. It'll either improve my score or I'll never hit anything ever again if I start staring at the rib all the time After 100 birds at South Down today I can honestly say I see absolutely no rib at all in order to shoot where I'm pointing. I see the top of the lever and the bead at the end of the rib and that's it, and placing the bead directly on a flat going away bird smokes it. Well, I'm a bit of a tart and have an ego to maintain, so I was finger banging a new Blaser F3 Professional the other day that took my fancy, or a custom fitted Perazzi. I do realise that a tarty gun doesn't help scores etc, but it helps maintain my 'all the gear and no idea' image.

Peter De La Mare
Well, two potential buyers left deposits, but neither have come through with the balance by the agreed date. So, still for sale.
