hello

I'm a 25 year old hunter from Germany. I like hunting roedeer and boar, but also shoot a lot of foxes (21 since june this year), pigeons and crows. pigeons and crows mainly using decoys. We also have a German Shorthaired Pointer...

I'll be working near Bath as a teacher from October this year until June next year and I was wondering if I could go hunting there - 8 months without hunting would be rather tough on me. I don't know anything about what one needs to go hunting in England and how that works, so if anyone here could help me out, it would be much appreciated. I'm not looking for shooting trophy roebucks or something like that, it's just about going hunting and stuff.

Welcome to PW forums, I think you will have your work cut out getting permission for what is a relatively short period of time, however someone in the Bath area may be able to take you out with them.

Basically you will have to get a visitors permit (LINK HERE this is from a different police area but the process will be much the same) most pigeon/crow/rabbit shooting is gained by knocking on farm doors or by getting well known in an area for doing a good job keeping the vermin down. That said lots of areas are leased for shooting game and as such getting to shoot vermin/pests will be hard. Another way of getting some shooting is to get into beating. That way you will get to know local estates and farms, but as you are here for a short while and will be working you may not have the time.

Keep reading and best of luck
