Pigeon Cradles

Hi

 

I got some dead bird cradles and wondering what you can use to hold the plumage together so its all nice and neat when sitting in it? I heard you can use elastic bands?

 

Anyone have any good tips?

Yes, if the birds are close enough to see whether there's the odd feather out of place, they're close enough to shoot, it's a bit like cutting the eyelids off dead birds used as decoys, totally unnecessary.

Do the wings not fall un naturally before rigor sets in?

just put them in the cradle,when there close shoot them thats all i do,

Is it your preference to replace your decoys with dead birds? Or do you keep your decoys out and just augment your pattern?

I take my decoys in as soon as possible.

 

After I have 5 or 6 birds, I usually replace each decoy with dead pigeon in a cradle. and no you don't need to put elastic bands around each pigeon.

 

I will bring all my decoys in once I have about 15 dead birds out. This has been particularly important so far for me as I have found the birds will not decoy at all at the moment.

i keep my decoys out, but i use sillo socks and they seem two work ok, at the moment, just bought some more.

as i drop them i replace 1 for dead bird for deek each time
