Gonna Shoot a Wabbit
Hi all. Well am off to look at a .243 rifle at the weekend so i thought it about time i consulted the pigeonwatch faithful on re loading data. Doea anyone have a load that works for them, i am thinking around the 100grn bullet weight. So if anyone has a brand that works for them?, which powder? primers? I hasten to add it will be my partner in crime dead eye duck doing the loading his .223 hand loaded stuff is superb and hope to get a similar level of accuracy if possible (from the ammo anyway) thanks for your help GCAW
Graham M
I use a load of 40grns of H414 pushing a 100grn Nosler Partition set 25 thou' off the lands. This is towards the top end so you should start out @ 38grns and work up to a load that suits your rifle. I took this out on Saturday to zero it in at Garlands zeroing range and ended up putting a group into ½ inch at 100yds using a Harris bipod and a rear sandbag. G.M. I have had good results with that mix. I now use nosler 95g BT's with 42g of Reloader 22 & 10 thou off the lands. (42.5g's was marginally more accurate but a bit hot) Good luck, will you be shooting the ladder ? - worth looking into AndyCM

Graham M
A little bit fast for heavier bullets but you could use it for 55-70grn bullets. 38-40grns of powder. Not a very good choice of powder though. You could use H380 if you wanted something a bit faster than H414 51grns of H380 will send a 55grn bullet down range @ 3900fps……but your barrel would be very short lived with those sorts of loads. sandersj89
I will be testing my first 243 home loads later today I hope, I want a lighter bullet so have used 75grain Vmax being pushed by H414 over a remington primer out of fed brass. I have made up sets of 42, 43, 44, 45 and 46grains as a starter to see how I go. Will be a bit nerve wracking to pull the trigger but an experianced reloader checked everything I did and gave me loats of advice.
