libs
Just got my FAC and SGC and was wondering if i need to tell my insurers about the possibility of firearms being on the property? is it something they cater for of do i need a separate policy? rimfire4969
With my insurance company (NFU) they only want to know if any one item is over a cerain value, i think it was £2000.00 otherwise my guns are covered by their standard cover. This may of cause be because the NFU (National Farmers Union) cover a lot of people who are going to have a gun or 2. I think you are going to have to make a phone call and end up on hold for what seems like hours :look:
Cranfield
I have been insured with Norwich Union, Churchill, Prudential and probably a few more I can't remember since I have owned guns. None of them required special information about the guns. It is only if any one item is individually worth more than their specified limit (normally between £2000 and £5000) This information is in your Contents Insurance policy. Admiral Von Tirpitz
I work with an insurer, your contents policy will normally cover guns up to a certain value, but you will need personal effects cover in addition to contents cover if you want cover for when you are away from home. Contents only will cover them in the home for fire, theft etc, but if you drop and damage a gun you need the extra cover, which is normally worth it. If your gun is worth say over £1000 then better you tell the insurer you want to specify it on the policy, like a painting or art work and they should insure it for the full value, for another few quid.
