Yep Non-Toxic Questions.. AGAIN

Recommended Posts

Hi All,

Know the Steel Cartridge questions have been done already in other posts but haven't heard anything about Mirage Clever.

Understand they do a 36g 3" shell, just wondered if anyone had used them and what they thought about them compared to the others out there.

I read obviously an "Unbiased" report that Mirage had been in the game for quite some time and used superior components compared to some others... :drinks:

This was the artical see question Number 4.

scta.co.uk/downloads/SCTA%20On%20Target%20Summer%202005.pdf

Anyway any recommendations appreciated.

Will be shooting quite a few shells off hopefully this season don't really want the expense of Hevi, Tungsten, or Bismouth.

Cheers

Hewey

I've been told that they are really good - something to do with the steel being softer than most so it flatens out on impact.

Would like to try some to compare. Using gamebore mammoth at the moment, they are VERY good.

have to agree ive shot the gamebore for the last couple of wks 17 pinks last wk to them and a widgeon and pintail tonight and they were very high tonight suprised myself 36 g no 3s are fantastic

Guy's,

The Mammoth are 3.5" though aren't they, as in my earlier post my gun only has 3" chambers so the mammoth's are a no go.

I bought some Remington Hi-Speed 3" at the weekend and also got a few boxes of the RC Steel as they were cheap (anyone used those?)just to get a comparison. I still have a Hundred or so Tungsten Matrix left over from last season so will hopefully be able to make some comparisons.

Still interested in the mirage though so may try and get a few of thoses but thanks for your input.

MC, you do far too much shooting and earn too much money to fire off 400 at clays in a day. Unless that is your winning lots of prize money.!! BUT I bet you weren't using mammoth's at £18 a box. :)

Cheers Guy's,

Thanks again for your advise.

Must admit I tried some of the RC 32g Steel 4's on pigeons this weekend, must say I wasn't very impressed at all.

I was using RC SIPE 32g 6's and thought I'd give the steels a go to see how I got on, I took my B525 Browning along, I was shooting probably the best I have shot in a long time.

Anyway when shooting the steels they just didn't seem to kill, was hitting birds with both barrels and they were just going and landing in hedges and trees nearby. Yes of course some were dead but in comparison to the SIPE's they just weren't doing the job, I shot about a box of them off to give them a good chance but I wasn't impressed. With the SIPE's most birds were dead in the air.

I did swap and change cartridges a bit as I am trying to find a 12G cartridge that isn't yellow (the old don't want to mix 12 and 20G shells problem) I tried 31G RC1 Game and Titano also tried the 32 gram RC32 Caccia. All killed better than the SIPE's but none quite so well although the RC32's were probably the best.

Anyway picked 129 pigeons but won't be using RC Steel's on them again will let you know how well I get on with the Remington Hi-Speed Steel's.

Apologies for the long post.. It's late and I've had a few sherbets. :good:
