I am no expert but i have heard of puppies going off their food and having upset stomachs when they are seperated from the litter

sounds like you are having fun though !!

glad he's not too noisy ............... i had 3 or 4 months of whining usually ok until about 2.30am then it would start for 15 mins or so then stop and start again at 5am, one night she didn't whine and has never started again !!!

we had the occasional puddle but usually our fault and she also took a real liking to our dining room table and chairs until i smeared them with fairy liquid and the that stopped

great little dogs i am sure you will have fun

keep us informed it sounds like the result of minor changes in his diet, personally i would start to think about gradually weaning him onto a quality dry puppy food, and later the adult version of the same although every one will have there own ideas.

I dont know what it is at the moment but the diet is the same as the breeder used.

we are trying to give bakers puppy, the breeder fed this, but he turns his nose up to it when we try.

skinners was mentioned but i have never done this before so all feedback is well come.

still weeing on carpet but poo's outside. no signs when he wants to wee, he just stops what he was doing and goes. not doing anything about it, just cleaning up and spraying. he isnt even going to the door. didnt want to use pads or paper as it didnt feel right that you teach him to wee inside and then not to wee in house. just grab him and take him out when he wakes, after 10mins of play, after food, after drinking and before bed. if you try to get him to walk out the door he will stop half way and look at you......then pee on the floor. its almost like he's laughing when he does it.lol. little ******.

something that was noticed today. we bought the pup this dock and dew de-claw. took pup for his first jabs and the vet noticed that he still had a claw left on him. we were told, but the vet, that sometimes when the dew claw is done, that a little bit can be left and then you get a part grow, he checked it over and said that it was just a total miss by who even did the job. im not overly worried but the breeder paid good money for the job to be done. she told me today, that she will never use the vet again. we will leave it and is it becomes an issue then we will look at it then.

Things sound like they are going OK activeviii. I'd go for the quality food route, I'm not one for getting up at half six and cooking the dog a continental breakfast :yp: . Carry on with putting the food down for 15 and getting rid though, it'll soon start eating when it gets hungry enough.

But I have to agree with Airborne9

We went out to day and bought some other dried meal.

Hills natures best, for his tea i mixed 1/4 hills with 1/8 bakers and 1/8 meat all softened with a little warm water. we also bought a shallower dish and the put this dish it to his other dish, this was done to raise it up a little higher as we noticed that he always ate down to the same point and then clawed at the bolw and walked off.

this evening he ate the lot in one go, you would have thought he hadn't eaten in a week. we then went out for a wee and he came running back in and was licking alround the bowl and sniffing at the cupboard looking for more.

so happy tonight now he has had a good feed.

  • 3 weeks later...

still struggling with the feeding. some days he eats and some he will not touch it.

he has just run out of the 2kg sack of james wellbeloved. when he poo's it is firm but god does it smell and he farts as well, that stinks to.

Was told to change his food as it could just be it is fermenting in his tummy and putting him off.

this time i have bought a 15kg of burns so its **** or bust. dont know if this is the right way as i cant get into any puppy classes or find anyone to put me straight with things so its just talking to other dog owners that im getting info.

here he is a few days ago.

gosh he is changing quick.

hi, your dog has great lines and is looking good,as for his diet you need to get him on a quality puppy food and STICK to it every time you change brands or even flavours you will upset his young stomach, consistancey is the key.

james wellbeloved puppy food is a good choice if he is refusing it add a fork of sardines ,the one that come in sunflower oil and stir it in with the food if he takes that which he will increase the amount of sardines after a week or so let him have 1 sardine a day in with his food it is good for him as it contains omega 3 etc but dont let him have the oil at first.

let us know how he gets on :welcomeani:

That looks like an impressive pedigree. Just out of curiosity, are there any names that repeat themselves through the line? I noticed my bitches line had a very close breeding three generations back, so I then checked pedigrees we had from years ago and they turned out to be very close matches. One dog appeared in three of the four grandparents. I mentioned this to a mate and he showed me a pedigree where bothe 5th generations were identicle. He said it was just breeders desperate to continue their line. I don't pay much attention to it really, I think there are a lot of other factors involved in the dog's performance. My brother has a staff/lab/chocolate cross and she makes a great gun dog. Just interesting.....
