rimfire4969
After many hours training i took my springer Tessie for her first real outing. It was in a field a short walk from my house, only realy wanted to work her and had no real thought of shooting anything, but took the gun for a bit of pratice for her to sit on shot. She worked a few hedges quite well, then about 20 yards in front she flushed a rabbit from a very thick part of the hedge, she was still in the cover i gave the rabbit a bit of lead fired and rolled it over. To my amazment i looked at Tessie she was still just in cover sitting. That was the training part done. :o I sent her for the retrieve with no problems as the rabbit was in quite short grass and brought it straight back to me. It is such a great feeling after all the hours for it to come together. I took a couple of photos for me to remember the good times, i am so pleased. Miroku Mike
Really pleased for you. Experienced the same feeling not so long back myself. It just goes to prove all the time and effort is worth while. Lovely looking dog. Nice one.

Miroku Mike
Take your time with the dog, dont make the mistake of rushing, you can easily undo all that hard work. First couple of times i took my dog walking up i never took my gun, went with my old man and me mate. I could then give him 100% of my attention and jump on any unwanted habits. As it goes he took to it well, but he did like to chase a good few yards as they flushed. Not anymore !! Not telling you how to suck eggs just a suggestion.
