magman
Went out last night with Jay(magboy) at 6.30 for a sit on top of some silage bails for a fox jeff had a game of hide en seek with Anyway on the way down the drive shot a crow about 100 yrds out and carried on to the farm . got to the bails ,climed up on top and there,s a fox mousing about 300 yrds away watched him for a while then treid a few calls but just walked of in the end . Then a rabbit pops out 137 yrds away no 1 in the bag . pick it up and decided to gut it 40 yrds from the bails and drop the rabbit at the bottom of the bails . Out pops another rabbit so take that one as well ,picked up and slit open and left half way up the bails so the scent gets carried further . Darkness fell and i started calling for 5 minutes then had a 3 minute break to see if anything come ,then as were sitting there a fox appeared below me to pick up the gutted rabbit no more than 6 ft away ,spotted without a lamp on. but never stood still and started to make off across the field , lamp on and its steaderly walking with no intension of stoping . at 40 yrds i get a chance of a broadside shot and down it goes. Have a quick scan nothing else showing so start calling again ,put lamp on and there is one where i put the guts out but starts running as soon as the lamp hits him. jays following him with the lamp and i shots stop but he carrys on Jay then makes a click and he stops at 97 yrds to look . to late job done Both dog fox,s Give it ten more minutes and had a smoke but nothing showed so of home we go shooting a few more rabbits on the way back .
