jef
Assuming the dog knows the gun goes "bang", is it now shy of the gun itself or only when you fire it? My pup would try and climb up me when I brought the gun out of the cabinet. I have since worked it out of her but it was just the gun, knowing it makes a loud noise. Almost as if she would anticipate it. Jef

jef
I went back to a starting pistol, and fired random shots off when we were on a walk. Though I'd wait till she was well out and I had her attention. Then eventually I could fire the gun when she was sniffing about and she didn't mind. Then I took the gun out with me and did similar things. I've got a 12 bore blank that holds a .22 firing cap. I think it was just a matter of her getting used to it. All the best James
fallarben
personaly id go right back throw her a retrieve send her for it while shes huntint fire a shot from the starting pistol or get a friend to fire a shot about 150 yds away muffled then keep moving neara till the bitch assoiates a shot with a retrieve then may come out of it
deeksofdoom
I had a similar problem with my GWP the summer before last. I had to go back to sitting her down beside the shotgun in the sitting room, walking around the garden with the shot gun in hand, going for walks with the gun, then progressed to firing just the primers in the shotgun. Done this for a couple of weeks before I attempted to fire a shot over her again. Now she's perfect. She was a year old at the time, what age is your dog? http://forums.pigeonwatch.co.uk/forums/ind...7&hl=gunshy Edited October 15, 2008 by deeksofdoom
