Pykie
Went out last night with my mate Stuart to lamp some rabbits. It had been pelting with rain and hail all day but with a cold night ahead I was optimistic. Started at 8, Stuart missed two easy shots then bowled over a long crossing runner with a second barrel. With spirits raised, and a strong wind in our faces, we shot 10 more rabbits before Stuart informed me he only had one cartridge left! Walking back to the car to restock, I shone on a pair of eyes trying to hide in a tractor tyremark. With one shot left, we stalked the rabbit across the field and Stuart shot it dead. Having only ever shot no more than 5 rabbits ever in a night, with a round dozen he was delighted! I wasnt so pleased having to carry the majority of the coneys back for him!! We went back to the car, had a quick drink then set off again, pockets rebulging with cartridges. We went back to the same field again and shot two, then shot a further two in the field next door. The rabbits did not react to the shots, with the wind blowing so hard, and we called it a night at half 10 with sixteen rabbits, two of which were a left and right, and one very happy Stuart !! We did see three foxes which we could have easily called in but the land owner is a lifelong huntsman so we let Charlie go on his way

Gonna Shoot a Wabbit
well done, You might want to think about paunching your bunnies in the field. It makes for less waste to dispose of at home and your bunnies will be better for the table when paunched ASAP. rgds GSAW
