Country_est
Did one of these a while back. First wrapped the blade in cling film. then wrapped the fibreglass matting from car repair kit around that and applied the resin. Once hardend then remove the knife and you have the first bit of the sheath. then covered it with leather from an old jacket and stiched it up. one quick sheath that allthough doesnt look great holds the knife safley. Can post pics if desparate. Trev

Hubertus
@vim: for what purpose do you use that knife that you want to carry it? I have also plenty of butcher knive but use them only for making game in small pieces. They are very easy to sharpen but also get quick blunt. Posted a knife in the Picture section. Have a look on it. Very good and best price value i ever had. In Germany you can get Kydex form different Dealers but every knife maker have them. Try to contact a knife make (google). Have a look on that if you are interested in building sheaths: http://www.sheathmakingforums.net.ms/ @Ptaylor: Normally the butcher knifes can not be used with normall sheaths because of the bigger end of the grip and guard. Its in German but maybe with a dictionary not to difficult to understand. http://members.aol.com/TKORN040/Messer/Kydex.html and this how to build one with leather: http://blindschleiche.de/Artikel/GAK/20010113Scheide.php Hubertus
