Made an electronic caller as "Varmint Al" site & quite impressed. Bulky but quite light & fits nicely into a little cheap cammo backpack I had lying about. Sound quality is excellent & results with crows have been impressive, yet to try it with fox calls. Speaker cost £20 from Maplins & amplifier £12 from e**y,I already had

mp3 & CD players kicking about.

Hi Guys

Forgive me if I'm wrong or jumping in here with two feet, but is that not Illegal according to WACA 1981 part 1 sub 5(1) D for

bringing in birds etc.

I think Fox is OK but other vermin....!

You could be right but I've not actually read the above.

If so, how come electronic crow callers are available commercially??

Or is it that old chestnut'its ok to make and sell them but illegal to use one'

I'd certainly like to know before I put one on my Christmas list :hmm:

Once again i maybe wrong but here goes,

I believe there made so you can call them in to take pictures only.....!

"Uses as a decoy, for the purposes of killing or taking any wild bird, any sound recording or any live bird or other animal whatever which is tethered, or which is secured by means of braces or other similar appliances, or which is blind, maimed or injured"

He shall be guilty of an offence and be liable to special penalty.

They are for photographic purposses only!!!

Its a very gray area and there has been some threads on this on BBs and AAOC and the outcome was well ......

read into it what you like very gray area this.

I'm also guilty as i recored them from sites on web and put them onto my mobile phone......

then read this issue in some mags and seen the replies else were.

Rgds

I contacted BASC on this several years ago and the advice given was that it would not be advisable to chance this in a court of law. The problem lies in the wording and leaves it at best with a very murky grey area.

I live my life by the following... if in doubt, leave it out. Just remember, pleading ignorance is not a defence.
