webber Posted December 11, 2008 Report Share Posted December 11, 2008 Last year I ran a poll on PW to establish the preferred date for a national PW effort to control Grey Squirrels and then later in the day to roost shoot Wood Pigeon. The poll last year settled on the second Saturday in February. For 2009, the second Saturday falls on 14th. February. So the question is are PW members happy with this date for 2009. Locate Grey Squirrel dreys, and evict the occupants either by poking or shooting out the dreys. Kill as many Grey Squirrels as possible. Record the number and if possible the sex of the squirrels. At an appropriate time subject to local conditions, take up position to shoot Wood Pigeon as they come into roost. February 2009 has been voted as PW National Day for Grey Squirrel & Wood Pigeon. I will start another topic for members to show their support for the event, and hopefully promote it to other PW members, and trust that the event will attract the attention of other fieldsports forums with the aim of getting as many guns out on the day as possible.
