nickcrabbe
Hi, Just wondered if anyone has a "go to" book that's in publication and outlines most of the basics for succesful pigeon shooting. Not the "how to shoot a shotgun" stuff but how to set decoys, wind directions patterns etc. Much obliged

Greenhunter
Agree with the above. Both are well worth a read and Archie Coates is still good if you haven't got all the modern gear yet.

Ninj
I second Batleys "The Pigeon Shooter". Make sure you get the latest edition as it has a section on magnets etc.
tony2
i have archie coats book if though it may be thought to be out of date the basic field crafts are in the book and the information relevant. i personally dont use a pigeon magnet and can still attain 200 plus scores pigeon shooting. like all things in our modern life the experiance and knowledge of past shooters , game keepers ,and even poachers is being lost , which i find sad, sorry to harp on but i think its important not to loose this knowledge from the past. regards tony
Whitebridges
Johnson's book first published in 1961 has a lot of good stuff in it. It's a bit dated now obviously but a lot of it still holds true. Edited December 27, 2008 by Whitebridges
greybeard
Archie Coates without a doubt. Pigeons are behaving now as they did then.
