Hi all,

Out today on the rape for first time since march, numbers have bin building up over this cold snap to 300/400 pigeons on one farm on 3 fields 20 acres each within 1/2mile of each other. Been on the acorns for months rd here tho.

It start yesterday at 3pm in the afternoon, made 2 scare crows and put them on the field i wasnt shooting on, along with dozen plastic bags on stakes dotted around the fields, to keep pigeons off as my shooting mates are working.

I was set up and ready at 8.30am with 15 shell decoys out but with the wind ( 4mph breeze  ) behind me :good: beacuse footpath down one side then crosses another & road on other side. :hmm: Having to do best with not best conditions and set up the pigeon started coming, i resisted shooting at the first group of 200 odd that came and mulled around decoys for 10 mins, then nice groups of 4/12 kept coming but from high up from behind, good challenging shoots tho. Replaced the shell decoys with dead birds and had good bit of sport till rain came and breeze went at 12. Packed up at 12.30 with 39 pigeons for 50 cartridges. Would of had few more if i'd of gone for more right & lefts but the hide was poor because ground was still frozen could get poles in very well, a lot got spooked at the last minute dropping in over hide.

But you cant have everything when pigeon shooting, me and the Lab had a good 1/2 day :hmm:

Please can we get some 20mph east winds for next week
