RC45
Hi, Sorry if this is the wrong thread. Does anyone know of a gunmaker who makes a rifle for the .303 round? Cheers Phil
Harnser
There are many rifles out there in .303 calibre . A friend of mine has a customised S.M.L.E. and it is a very good stalking cartridge . The .303 has been very popular in canada for many many years and has had a certain amount of succes in the states . The .303 has been overlooked as a stalking calibre ,proberbly because of the age of the cartridge .It has been overshadowed by all the more modern cartridges over the last 50 years . I am sure if you try you will find a maker who chambers for the .303 british ,after all the .303 has killed more big game in africa (and wounded more ) than any other cartridge . Good luck in your quest . Harnser .

Vince Green
Nobody makes new rifles in .303 these days which is a shame.

The only people I know who keep .303 soft point are Wilson & Wilson in Ramsgate or Kynoco in Mildenhall. Thats OK if you are happy to drive miles every time you want ammo or you are prepared to pay a fortune and wait ages while your local dealer gets it for you on special order. RC45
Hi Vince, Surely it would be possible to reload in .303?

Dangerzone
"Surely it would be possible to reload in .303?" Of course it is, look about half way down the link page. 303 S type dies Midway UK http://www.chuckhawks.com/303British.htm http://www.reloadbench.com/cartridges/303b.html 303's wont be for everyone, but if it's what you want, you have the money to buy what you want then why not? Andy H
Try Peter Lawman for reloading supplies he is in Northhampton and has all types of goodies for sale.
Vince Green
Yes I reload .303 and have done for years but its not the easiest or most forgiving round to load because its a tapered case. You still have the problem of getting hold of soft point bullets, there aren't many about.
RC45
Thanks again. I intend to visit Peter Lawman soon, as he has a shotgun I am intersted in.
manc-munsters
.303 bullets are the same as 7.62x39 bullets ie .311 Do a search for soft pointed 7.62x39 bullets and there are many more options. On the continent, 7.62x39 is a very popular hunting round and so they tend to have the best choice. I bring my own bullets back from Bulgaria after shooting trips over there. The bonus is, or was until the pound collapsed, they work out very inexpensive I have never used one, but would imagine a .303 would be a cracking deer rifle.
