mdc124
Hi, I'm new to shooting and live in York. Just got my cert and am looking to purchase my first gun shortly. I'll probaby only get to shoot a couple of times a month until the summer evenings arrive but if there are any local shooters that are prepared to take a newbie/numpty under thier wing please PM me. Also if anyone knows of any instructors that provide sensibly priced tuition by the hour i'd appreciate it. Cheers

You should expect to pay about £50 for tuition on 50 clays, that is what it cost here abouts anyway. There is a place at Snaith just off the A19 North of Doncaster that has a few professionals who will do you training or there is a site just outside Beverly, Hull where you can get tuition. One of the places I shoot at the owner charges £45 for 50 shot and I think that is good value. Cheers taz.. . paulos
If you fancy a drive up to Catterick to Marne Barracks, you will be more than welcome 1st and 3rd Sundays in the month and most Wednesdays. There is always somebody about to show you whats going on, and it will cost you £8 for 50 rather than £

The £45 is for the tuition. You pay £45 / £50 and get tuition over 50 shots and that includes the carts. Thanks - i may take you up on that (i assume i need my own gun and carts at that price) Catterick is only 1/2 to 3/4 hour to get to from York so it is easy to get to. Its always good fun to shoot with others and most people will offer advise if you ask. Cheers taz.. . Fuddster
Park lodge at snaith is really good layout and the have an instructor on hand. SHE is called linda and has a lot of national/inter national medals to her credit. Call the ground and you'll probably speak to Geoff her hubby. I know her well and she's easy going. the ground is almost empty through the week which is good for spensing time with novices. I shoot on a thurdays as the have a discount on clays. if you get yourself sorted maybe meet up sometime-PM me if want my 2 pennies worth on where to spend your cash if buying gun locally good luck fuddster

I'm not entirely sure what you mean by "darkside" at Catterick however though
