Harnser
What i find interesting about this thread is that just as many people find the escort rubbish as those who say it works faultlessly . Not a very good reccomendation for a gun in my mind . Very rarely do you hear of any body rubbishing the beretta autos . O.k the beretta costs a lot more dosh ,but beretta is a top of the range maker and their guns are reliable . Having never owned an escort and reading what i have been reading about them i dont think that i would ever buy one . It would seem it is the luck of the draw as to wether you get an old nail or a reliable one ,and that points to quality control in my book . Harnser . EvoCars
To be honest, they are that simple inside, what is there to play up so badly with some guns ?, maybe a disassemble and rebuild would sort them out, maybe its just who's put them together in Turkey that's causing the probs (Friday afternoon guns ) mine did have a faulty trigger spring when I first had it, edgars sorted it out really quickly, and just to add, their main gunsmith who is the chap who sorts them out when returned, told me, that almost all the escorts sent back to him with probs where down to the gun being dirty/not cared for, and in generally bad condition. Spaniel
Yep i always give mine a good clean out, just removing the barrel and clean around the spring etc it seems to be doing the trick at present
EvoCars
the main part to make double certain is clean, is the trigger assembly, they do get **** buildup in them, dirt/unburnt powder and so on, this will really hamper the trigger and will give misfire's and the like, but it only take a few seconds to take out of the gun and strip it to clean
steve_b_wales
I think someone put a link on here that shows the Escort being completely stripped down. Looks easy enough.
peter-peter
I have had 2 neither lasted more than 6 weeks. both went back to edgar bros. you can pick up a second hand beretta 300 series for £300/350 no recycling problems with these. tazkb
Look for the millionth time there is nothing wrong with escort shotguns yes there are better ones out there but nothing offers the value for money that hatsan arms does there have been a few with problems but there are plenty of other guns that have had teething troubles especialy when new, edgar bros give a good backup service and unless your very unlucky then buying a new escort won't be a problem, i know this as i have 2, both work perfectly and both have had plenty to do, they are not in the same league as berretta or benelli but they are around £750 min cheaper i never see any of the "cheap" big name guns people go on about on the forums except very very rarely and non of them come with a 3 year warenty, in fact most of them don't have any and some of the cheaper guns are cheap for a reason simple as
fenix
I was chatting to a gunsmith a few months ago about modern guns, he does not retail anything he just does gunsmithing both for shops and privately. One thing he mentioned is that he sees a lot more warrenty work on new guns that he used to, that goes for all the big brands as well as the smaller ones. His advice was to buy an older gun, many see little use, and have it serviced locally. Its well worth looking for private gunsmiths many shops dont have in house facilitys so outsorce the work, I've often found it quicker and easier going directly to the person doing the work.
