what does everyone think about American gun laws

I will be honest....Posting a greenpeace banner on a pro shooting website is like posting the swastika and lightening runes on a church wall.

I have to ask why? Taken from Wikipedia:

Below is a list of Greenpeace's current priorities:

Tackling human-induced climate change

Preserving the oceans

Saving ancient forests

Peace and nuclear disarmament

Promoting sustainable agriculture

Eliminating toxic chemicals many of which are carcinogens

I can't see anything there about being anti-hunting? After all, one of the arguments for hunting is that it is good for conservation, so Greenpeace and hunters are on the same side.

To return to the original thread, I see nothing wrong with American gun laws. What I do see a lot wrong is in society, both here and in America that make guns dangerous weapons usually because they are in the wrong hands. Switzerland has been cited as an example - it's not entirely a sane country, but at least even dropping a scrap of litter over there will get you approached by citizens who want to live in a pleasant and safe environment. Low crime and personal safety are entirely based on societal mores and health, nothing to do with who carries weapons.

I have to say I object most strongly to sporting rifles being referred to as weapons, The Military use weapons, we as shooters use rifles or shotguns

OK so as a little project I would like Sniper to go to his Greenpeace meetigns or forum or wherever he goes to talk to people from that organisation and see how many are pro-hunting. The last I heard of GreenPeace theyw ere harrasing Japanese whalers in the Arctic, following them for days and even managing to damage their boat, I am sorry but those are actions of thugs not of those wanting to save animals and help the environent. I weill never support Greenpeace.

Greenpeace are against whaling because a whale is supposed to be killed instantly by a grenade tipped harpoon.

Most linger for hours in the water, bleeding to death or drowning. Thats not humane.

Fact of the matter is, theres no way to humanely kill a 100 tonne whale.

Not to mention the Japanese hunt critically endangered species. Would you go and shoot some pandas?

Have a look at

And Greenpeace are a conservation society, much like BASC.

And for the record, the idiots ramming whaling vessels are Sea Shepherd, a totally different and unaffiliated group from Greenpeace.

See here --> Real Nutjobs

The Greenpeace boat (MV Arctic Sunrise) that was tracking the whaling fleet refused to give the location to Sea Shepherd, as they know how bad they are.

A quick Google search will bring up the dispute, and how Greenpeace try to distance themselves from them at every opportunity.

Please get the facts right before diving in.

Taking this way off topic! I'm pro animal rights. I believe they have the right to a decent life and a swift death as stress-free as we can possibly make it. That's why I'm pro-hunting and anti-factory farms.

From comments I read and hear, most hunters are keen to ensure a swift kill, and poor shooting (i.e. being a **** shot or shooting birds that are too distant) is frowned upon by the majority of hunters.

If you look at the bigger picture, rather than instantly assuming all pro-animal rights are instantly badly-dressed, ignorant societal drop outs, you'll probably realise that most hunters are more pro-animal rights than those people who have no interest in animal welfare but who are anti-hunting through ignorance.
