Thought I'd share a few pics of some of the sticks that I've made & am in the process of making

 

A one piece hazel pheasant **** stick & one piece hazel crook

A one piece simple **** stick, finished with several coats of boiled linseed.

A one piece blackthorn pointer head, this ones giving me a bit of grief getting it right :(

A double tined antler on hazel project

A weighted antler priest with buffalo horn caps, made from a set of cast antlers kindly sent to me by Henryd last year :)

I'll take some pics of the end products when I finally get round to finnishing them, I've also got some great vine twisted hazel shanks seasoning in the shed that I cut in France while on holiday.

Nice work SS. It’s so good to see people who can carve the whole stick rather that just sticking a ready made (in China) head on it! What tool/s do you use for your carving?

The hardest part is finding a suitable shank, then waiting for it to season.

 

I first get the basic shape with a rasp & then I have to confess the dremmel comes out for the detailing :good:

I really like the one piece hazel crook. I've been looking for a suitable piece of timber to make one of those for myself but haven't had any luck at all and it's getting a bit late now!! Just have to keep my eyes peeled next winter.
