Beardo
there will always be good and bad, unfortunately there are a lot of bad videos on youtube which even within the hunting community are shocking. even videos which we see as good will offend the antis. grasshopper
I think that as responsible shooters,it is more often pointed out(on here anyway) just how stupid and irresponsible these people are.Unfortunately on You Tube itself, unless you scroll down and read the comments,,again usually pointing out the error of their ways(apart from the idiots who are just sickos)people will only think about what they see. It,s so much easier to watch something, than read all about it. I voted yes.Because they are out there on line, available to all,as is this site,so long as we,re responsible, then are we really harming our activities? Boomstick
Of course they have a place on sites like this! Here's 10 reasons off the top of my head 1) Not everyone is an expert and some beginners may make these errors; better to learn from an idiot than become one 2) If you don't see the worst, it is hard to know how to effectively answer criticism of hunting/shooting 3) Other people can watch them and take offence to them - keeping informed of current issues is paramount to understanding those who resent hunting/shooting 4) It IS funny that some people can be SO stupid - life doesn't always have to be serious 5) If one person posts a link to a video, it hardly denotes that they agree with it - quite the contrary in most cases! 6) If people do end up 'splitting hairs' loosely connected to the matter in hand - what is the harm? You may find it boring, but perhaps those involved find it intellectually thrilling 7) Aside from the law punishing gun idiocy, there should be discipline dished out by the shooting community where things are stupid but not illegal. What better form of discipline than being made to look like a t*** 8) What harm is there in observing the bad actions of another if unilaterally criticised? The real problem is possible emulation. If people are stupid enough to copy it - i don't even think PW can help them! 9) Why worry per se about offending antis? They CHOOSE to take offence, and may exercise such a choice over legitimate, helpful videos. The last thing the shooting community needs is to bow to antis. 10) Spreading these videos can be seen as 'education' rather than 'idiotification' of the internet I'm sure some will disagree - remember this is not a personal attack - just my humble opinion! Dave-G
I voted yes due to the wording of the question John. I'd rather those particular video's were not there but a high hit score is something to gain bragging rights about. I agree they show some shooters in an irresponsible way but Youtube is a site where sillyness or seriousness can be lauded, and a lot of it is done just to enjoy some mischief. However ones mans mischief is another mans ridicule. I have some vids on Youtube - the silliest will be found by searching the site for "churchill taxi" Now you know how daft I can be - in case you hadn't noticed. Ozzy Fudd
i voted yes for 2 reasons firstly because anything stupid/dangerous, etc, that gets posted gets slated by all the members - remeber the recent video of live pigeons being releasedfrom traps and shot? not a single person tried to say it was ok or they supported it; its useful for new members to see things you shouldnt do, and it cant hurt the site by people seeing the members disagreeing with stuff like that secondly, some of those videos (stupid and possibly some of the illegal ones) are posted for entertainment value, ive seen plenty of vids on here that have made me chuckle, and ive posted a few. so whats wrong with that?!
