harpoonlouis
I got one too, £20 secondhand and about 20 years old by the look of it, still does the job knocking up any specials in small batches. Good palce to start but there are better if you are really going into it in a big way.

Mec 9000
Lee Loadall is a good buy if you are just getting into it and are happy to load one or two boxes an hour as every stage is done by hand, To do it in a big way is to use a high output machine ie Mec Grabber a six stage machine where you pull a handle and a complete shell falls out, between each pull the machine has to be indexed to next stage by use of your finger to turn the baseplate annd all going well will turn out 200 to 300 per hour. Mec 9000 machine is similar but has automatic indexing and all being well turns out between 500 and 600 per hour. There are many types of machine on the market, Have a look at Mec or Ponsness Warren. Paladin
Hi all. A Lee Load All is an exelent tool to start reloading, OK they probably don't give you a finished cartridge like a manufacturers turnover, but a perfectly servicable cartridge, and ideal for pigeon. I now use a Hornady Pacific 366 that produces a cartridge every time you pull the handle = 300+ per hour = a big way. All reloaders need to see Ian Charlton at Clay & Game Reloaders for all your powders components, and equipment. www.claygame.co.uk

mikee
ive got 5 mec 600 jrs and a 10bore steel master set up in the shed, which are similar in principal to a lee loadall, not really any good for high volume loading but brilliant for specials and steel fowling shells, i buy them 2nd hand of US ebay for generally about £25 + p&p, they are a bit of a pain to set up for a specific load so i just buy another every now and again, you will struggle to save any money doing it but its great to shoot with your own loads, i like mec9000's idea of collecting 2nd hand wads, will take a rake and bin bag next trip to high lodge mikee
Mec 9000
Been using wad pick ups for years and as long as no damage to seal at bottom have had no problems. Best cases and wads I have used are Winchester AA compression formed cases ans AA wads but hard to come by, think I have a few thousand cases but no wads. Was in Australia in 95 and visited a clay shoot, there was a mountain of AA wads and it seemed all they used were Winchester shells, got a shovel and filled a few large boxes approx 30000 wads and shipped them home by sea to a saving of about £200+. Going back this year so watch this space. If you can get compression cases rather than parallel taper less powder is needed per load for same result. Ninj
Sorry to jump in but along the lines of wad pick ups, does anyone load any European cases? from their clay ground (fired Express, RC, Hull etc) All of the data seems to be for the US cases and although I often hear guys refer to getting their fired carts from the clay ground, I was just wondering if theres any data for them? mikee
gerry i used to have a ready supply of winchester silvers, a couple of my mates swore by them and saved all the cases for me, but now they shoot other stuff, when i was a kid 30 odd years ago my neighbor was a keen reloader and always used winchester trap 100 and 200, or remmington and peters, but none of these seem to be available any more, now i mostly use the b&p gordon system cases, black gold are my top choice if available, for steel i prefer american remmington or federal cases in 12b and 10b mikee
Mec 9000
Winchester were good shells but sadly for me they now load trap 100 and 200 in pt cases but as far as I know the silvers are still in the cf cases, they are great for reloading if you can get them. I also liked Winchester GBs and Maionchi SMI cartridges but don't see much of them now. I believe you can get wads that suit both types of cases, I will need to look into that. How much are you reloaders paying for primers. Gerry
Mec 9000
are there reloading tables for them? There are formulas for most types of cases, if you pm me with your needs I will try to help. Most pt case loads are similar with some differences for active and Gordon system. I think I have a few thousand Black Gold cases somewhere, all Gordon system.
