New permission

Had some good news today guys ,

After a year of trying to get local permission (I have some other permission which is a 120 mile round trip) I have now got 350 acres of roughshooting gained in the Cotswolds inbetween Winchcombe and Stow on the Wold ,if anyone knows the area this is prime shooting territory nothing but fields and woods for miles . The shoot is a mix of grass fields , setaside ,woodland and arable with some spring barley going in very soon and right on the edge of one of the farmers fields is a 250 ! yes 250 acre mixed wood :D .

Did not cost me anything apart from a bottle of whisky and a box of chocolates . He has a deer problem as well for which he has a deer stalker in for , I met him today and he took me round on his quad bike which he said I am free to use when shooting and there was loads of woodies about , said just come whenever you want and no need to tell me .

Moral of the story guys is if you are finding it hard to gain permission keep trying and eventually you will find some I did get disheartend a fair few times and thought of giving up but glad I carried on. FM once I get to know him better I will try to return the favour for a spot of shooting . Now all I need is for my holiday allowance to start again in April

nice feeling aint it barrie0?

You will no doubt feel on top of the world at the moment and rightly so. Its not easy getting a shoot in the first place and its lounds like you have landed a goodun'.

The first shoot i ever landed was local. It was honestly a better feeling than passing my driving test, scoring (football), getting a decent set of A levels, scoring (other), etc etc. There is honestly no feeling like it. Especially if you have had previous knockbacks.

Enjoy the view from cloud nine for a few days! :sly:

Sounds like a great bit of land you have landed.

'here, you come and shoot when you like, no need to tell me. why not take a quad bike of your choice'

Sounds like a bloody Carlsberg advert

Happy shooting barrie0

Well done bazz..... sound the business!

There must be something in the air!!! :sly: , as I managed yesterday to obtain the sole shooting on 250acres woods, disused paddocks and set aside....... never been shot over!!!

The chap who bought the land was going to open up a riding centre, separate to his stables but never got around to doing it!!!! Got talking to the chap, let him bore me for an hour about how rich he was!, but it was worth it..............

So it just proves to those who do struggle obtaining permission, that knocking door does pay off in the end!!!!

Thanks guys

I know , it does sound to good to be true , I could hardly believe it myself .

Going down there on saturday morning ,as its the girlfriends birthday I will only be able to spend 3-4 hours  , I don't reckon I will use his quad for a bit though as I am liable to crash it and don't fancy losing the permission on my first trip there

As paul says guys keep knocking till you get something :sly:

Ps I did buy her indoors a Mustel Dv5000 its a little hand held video camera/camera/mp3 etc (honest it was for her  ) so when I get used to it , I may be able to post a vid of a bit of shooting .

May have to get married?

Recent newly aquired girlfriend whose father turns out to be a seed drilling contractor. Result - far more pigeon shooting opportunities than I know what to do with.

As I now have many acres to shoot over, think I should start to take people out on a day ticket basis?

Got land around Selby/Howden/Goole/Scunnie and Louth, with peas being drilled now around N.E.Lincs.

Now, hypothetically speaking of course, and completely without prejudice would anyone perhaps be tempted at say a competitive weekday price and or a bargain weekend break, or a single Sat/Sunday at a competitive price.

All equipment could be provided or bring your own for a reduced price, with gun hire if needed but either way a shot gun certificate would be a must as also BASC membership or similiar.

Thank you.

Cheers

CB :-)

Paul mate,

Think your right about "something in the air"

My son proudly anounced the other day that he and his Girlfriend are moving up to Scotland

She is going to be running an "eight" farm estate and country park complete with caravan site that is over run with bunskins.

of course i offered to help get rid of a few(be rude not to)

So thats me sorted then.

If he dont marry her I WILL!!!

Regards Sutty :sly::lol::lol:

Mike

You must come with me in a couple of weeks time the farmer is drilling on one of my shoots late March

Hope to as long as I can find the time as due to impending house move very soon and new farmer also drilling soon (as a rough estimate 50 acres), I asked him today if you could come down with me when he spring drills and he said Yes :sly: , he is going to either tell me when he sees me or give me a ring .

Had a few hours there this morning 3 crows and 2 woodies , but that was just having a walk around getting my bearings , judging by what I saw I think I am going to have to find a local game dealer or butcher to take some off my hands , do you know anyone Mike around the cotswolds .

Saw at least several deer today which was good to watch them .
