jim_whitson
I just went for a walk, and found some really cool new ducks about. First up, a gadwall: Next, a drake wigeon: And (i think) a whitefront: To see all the fowl we have year round, check out my thread in the wildfowling forum. We've got some crazy birds! jim_whitson
A cannon powershot A400; the pictures are scaled down to 640x480 from 2048x1536. I don't know squat about cameras - it was a christmas pressie that I've just worked out how to use!

Here's where they all live: http://jim.fears.d0s.info/~jim/pics/ Just don't cane my bandwidth too much! ;-)
M ROBSON
There's some nice looking ducks there, really like the wigeon. here's a few from our collection. I'm pretty sure that goose in your last picture is a Canada/Greylag cross, they'll **** anything those canadas!!! Cheers Mark.
jim_whitson
Those are some pretty birdies! I think I've seen some of them on the wildfowling forum, correct? You've got an emperor goose? I'm jealous! Canada/greylag eh? Some kind of super-shouty goose. Greylags and canadas seem to be the most aggressive geese. I bet a cross is even more so. I'll have to try and start a fight with it... ;-P
M ROBSON
That's right Jim, there's a few pics of them on the fowling forum. We used to have a lot more fowl but have downsized the collection in the last few years. Mark.
jim_whitson
Yeah, it must be a lot of trouble & expense to keep them all happy. Where do you get them? I take it you're not allowed to trap wild birds?

M ROBSON
Jim, Some of the geese in our collection are wild birds, there are Pinks and Greys that are over 15 years old and one of our new Pinks was shot last year with a collar on not sure what the current prices are but a few years ago you Red Breasted Geese would set you back £250 a pair!! Paul, That's alot for Mandarins, they were going for £50 a pair a few years ago. Mark.
jim_whitson
Wow. Still, it's worth it for such a cool goose. I'm trying to persuade my folks that they want a waterfowl collection on their farm; I doubt my 10'x6' yard would sustain any fowl at all, let alone exotic ones. ;-) Edited March 16, 2005 by jim_whitson
