activeviii
Is there a cheaper way of sorting this out. I have only just bought a new 5 gun cabinet for my shotguns. now, after a lot of thought, i have decided to apply for a hmr and lr. i need locking cabinet for the bolts and ammo but it cant be kept in my gun cabinet as it has no top locker. can i use one of these digital safes you use for your money and passports. you know the ones that Aldi sell for £25. Im on a tight budget and it will be to tight if i have to change cabinets again. whats the law and how do i do this please. thanks all Phil

Guest topshot_2k
'Requirements of your gun cabinet relating to British Standards and UK Law. The British Standard for gunsafes is BS7558/92. Purchasers of gunsafes should be aware that Home Office Guidance states that new cabinets should conform to the requirements of BS7558' The same applies for ammo safes, could you not sell your cabinet and get a lock top? roadkill
does the bolt and rifle have to be kept in differant safes?
Warlock
does the bolt and rifle have to be kept in differant safes? Yes, it`s best practice advised by all FEO`s and a standard set by the home office, although in the case of semi autos putting the magazine seperate from the gun works just as fine. It`s all part of making it as difficult as possible to use your rifles should anyone get hold of them.

Browning GTS
My feo said rifle and bolt could be stored together as long as ammo kept is separate. But if you keep ammo with gun then bolt to be locked in another safe. He ok`d a homebase digital keypad safe brought for about £
