Hubbertspeak
I've just landed a new permission and the farmer is getting heavily into cherries. He's noticed that the woodies are eating the new buds on the cherry trees (for the first time in his experience) and has asked me to try and dissuade them Has anyone got any clever tips for decoying into cherry trees? Warlock
hmmm a tough one, lofters are your best bet and aim high, very high, the farmer will hate you blowing his trees apart. also you are going to want to disuade them from using another part of the orchard to make your section more attractive. Ferret Master
Lofters. If worried about nailing large sections of tree an airgun could be an effective second option? FM
Ozzy Fudd
use a banger rope, will scare the birds up to be blasted when theyre out of the trees OR get some of these, they will protect the cherry trees at all costsand you can pay them peanuts (or hazel nuts)
Harnser
Its the time of the year when pigeons will start budding . They will feed on most buds and can strip a tree of shoots . Have seen them feeding very hard on elder . Beech mast is a favourite ,but a little early for this . If they are feeding on his cherrys set a hide up near the trees and put some coys up in the branches and have a go . Harnser .
