Shooting Tom
I had to make a choice today between, a rape field (which has drilled maize in it, saw 100 odd pigeons on it 2day) OR a stubble field which i havnt really looked at, it has a few flight lines, but not really eating on it. I chose the RAPE to go onto, i will only take min. amount of decoys as its a bit of a walk lol, 10 half shell decoys, and 6 full bodies, with camo net and 3 bouncer poles. Do you thing that will be ok....? I am just hoping soo bad that i get some decoy i havnt had any good pigeon shooting for a long time. lol. ANY TIP will come in VERY useful Wish me lucky... Thanks

fieldwanderer
sounds like you're already in the know to be honest. Can't get my head round a rape field drilled with maize though!? (not that I know much about that sort of thing).
Imperfection
I'd go for the rape with maize also.Crows in particular should soon discover it too!

Cranfield
No one feel replying .... Perhaps they are having their dinner, I have just finished mine. The field you have had a chance to look at and saw pigeons feeding, is always going to be a safer bet than a gamble on a field you have not been watching. I would leave the full bodied decoys behind and take more shells (if you have them), as I usually have long walks to my shooting positions I only use shells and always have between 30 and 50 with me. You can also add shot birds to your layout to make up the numbers.
Shooting Tom
Thanks guys lol, yes it is game cover, so may get some crows as well but havnt got any crow decoys... only have 10 shelll decoys. 16 odd decoys should be enough this time of year ? How many decoys do u guys use?
Sprinter
You have to go where the pigeon are feeding. On rape this time of year if it is more than an inch or two high take as many decoys as you can carry!!!!
