hi i'm new to this forum but i just want a bit of help on getting a fire arms license.

I live in gloucestershire.

i have a shotgun license.

i have about an acre and a half of paddocks and need to lower vermin populations and the foxes need to be culled because they are taking poultry and livestock .there is also a farmer who would probably want me to control the fox population.

i would like to what requirements are needed to get a firearms license and how best to get one.

thanks

Fill out the forms, and get written permision from the land owners all signed and dated etc..

Then call your local firearms dept. and discuss your application before you send it off. Im guessing you will be after a .223 for the fox and a .22 for the vermin... but all that can be discussed with him.

You will also need to sort out references, 2 people. (must have known you for two years)

hope this helps and good luck with your app.

You need to demonstrate a need for the calibers you require, to be really honest you have no chance of getting firearms to shoot on an acre and a half of land, a typical .17hmr is flat to 120 yards and will keep going wel past that, .22lr will easily go to 80 yards and still lethal way past that, a .223 or a .22 250 which are basic fox calibres you are looking at serious ammounts of space, so unless you have huge backstops they aren`t going to entertain an application. What you are going to need to do is find land that has already been passed for firearms for the caliber you want or find land that your FEO will pass.

How about a PCN (Pre Charged Numatic )air rifle say a Daystate .17 tuned to 16ftlb or THE .25 OR .22 which can be tuned to 30 ftlbs ranges wiill vary as the variant .17 50 to 80 yards the other upto a 100 yards plus.

you will need a FAC then to buy the required weapon and then have it tuned but it will allways be an FAC weapon even if you have tuned back to the legal limit of 12ftlbs thats the down side.

if you do get extra permission then ask for a variation and get a 22lr or 17HMR or the good old .243 ...:hmm: word of advise its not advisable to shoot Charlie fox with 22lr or 17hmr you will need a larger calibre ... and any way they eat the vermin   think about it you may be in with a chance FAC airrifle

what's the minimum amount of land you could have to be granted a fac for a pcp full power air rifle?? I have a couple of fields i can shoot, one is 400yrd by 213yds the other is 413yds by 155 and the other2 are about 130yrds square, the problem is they are a fair distance apart from each other. do you think i would be granted a licence
