throdgrain
Could anyone give me a link to the CPSA rules for registered shoots, in particular with regard to types of gun. I've every combination of words into the search engine on thier website, and it's given me nothing. Basically I'm trying to see if pump action shotguns (loaded with 2 of course) are actually legal on a registered shoot, and also the situation regarding slings on shotguns. I believe the latter are not allowed, but I've never seen it in print so to speak. Cheers
Peter De La Mare
Booklets 5 and 7 at the bottom of this link cover the rules and regs. http://www.cpsa.co.uk/cpsa-publications At the very bottom of Booklet 5 it says.... All types of shotgun may be used providing their calibre does not exceed 12 bore.Shotguns must never be loaded with more than 2 cartridges. Plus there are a few 'No Slings' listed in the table at the bottom of page 30 for the Trap disciplines. throdgrain
Why didnt I think of that? Just type in CPSA publications and you'll get the rules, many thanks As I thought, pump actions are allowed, but slings are not.
MC
Do they mean sling as in a carrying sling, or do they mean a sling as in a supporting aid. I can't see why they should not allow a carrying sling? Unless they don't want people carrying guns around closed (in the case of an O/U or S/S) and not covered. garyb
I take sling to mean, like rifle sling...
MC
So do I but there is more than one type of rifle sling, I use a single point sling for support when target shooting and a strap for carrying my rifle when out in the field shooting rabbits
throdgrain
Well, as I'm sure I've said before, I think a sling is really useful for semi-autos, as it makes sure the gun is pointing upwards all the time, saves "barrel sweeps". But who am I to comment
Gordon R
If you do a registered shoot, take the sling off.
