mack
Even though there are drillings around, theres still a good number of birds on the rape near me, only on the short stuff though. Mack
Catamong
Shawn, Look for the areas of the field, (usually near the edges) that have been grazed off by the birds - they will keep hammering these areas and you can often get some good sport at these spots because they make a beeline for them. ferretmanabu
What happens once the pigeons can't be shot over rape? Do we have to wait untilt he rape is harvested?
pete k
yes unless you have anything else for them to feed on
Catamong
Look for Bean and Pea fields at the moment, then everything goes quiet for a bit during May and June whilst the Woodies are making Squabs, then wait until the end of June for laid Barley, then Wheat, then swathed Rape. M ROBSON
In some areas up here the birds are favouring OSR rather than new drillings. One of our farms has hundreds of birds using a couple of rape fields while there are drills all around them. Had a good bag off them yesterday.
