Horrocks
The barrel on my CZ varmint is i think the 20'' version, but the length of the barrel from the end of the receiver to the tip of the screw cut area comes to about 19 3/4", is the 20'' version just rounded up to that or would this indicate the screwcutting has been done by a third party? thanks very much...... Baldrick
Measure it again from the breech face to the muzzle. I thought CZ .17HMRs were manufactured with either 16" or 22" barrels?
Guest RemmySPS
The Varmint is 532mm (21.9inches)
MC
The barrel on mine is 17" from breech face to crown. The 16" is probably from the end of the chamber to the muzzle.
Dunkield
The barrel on mine is 17" from breech face to crown. That one sounds like a cut and shut

Horrocks
wheres the breech face? i thought it was the spot that the actual barrel starts at?
MC
The breech face is where you put the bullet. You are measuring the total length of the barrel.
Horrocks
in that case its 21 incehes, or just under, the actual 'hole' the bullet goes in? is this a total disaster, it looks professionally done....
casts_by_fly
Does it really matter what the length is? If it shoots it shoots. If you're trying to sell it, 1" won't make a difference. Thanks Rick

Thanks Rick No, its not that, if thats the length it may mean the barrel has been chopped at a later date rather than by the manufacturers, raising questions about the workmanship, which could then affect accuracy.... MC
I always thought they made a 16" or a 20" version. Mine is the 16" version and as I said I assume that the 16" is the length of rifling not the total length of the barrel. I am sure that yours is the 20" version and you have nothing to worry about. Horrocks
Thanks MC, it does looks pretty professionally done...... i'll stop worrying

Again, I'll say what I said before. You already own it. It either shoots or it doesn't. If it does, don't worry about it. If it doesn't, then you need to figure out why.
