pigeon master
I agree, the length of the barrel is starting to get to me now on my Sako Varmint. Just getting it from the cabinet is a gripe, what was the cost of the job and where did you get it done? I think its time to get the snip. shooterash
Hi Gemini Looks very nice who did the shorterning for you? and at what cost? is it still super accurate has standard
Gemini
I had the job done at Webley, and at the time they only charged me £65 and that included proof. I think someone made a mistake though because last time I was in there they wanted £120 to thread and proof my Tikka .243. it was a bit embarrassing really because when I asked about the cost I was told it would be the same price as my Sako job. Turns out that they thought that I had paid a fair bit more than £65 for the job, but to be fair they charged me the same price although it was very awkward to say the least. :*) As for accuracy, well it is even better than original, which I think must be due to the harmonics of the barrel changing. As for that recoil pad, I fitted that on the first day as I felt the butt kept on slipping down in the shoulder. Easy job to do because I also took off the old finish and applied an oil finish to it, which meant I was able to grind and sand the pad right up to the wood prior to re-finishing. G.M. apbuild
PM, For some reason, I thought you were based close to me in Oxfordshire! I would say that any good gunsmith could shorten, re-crown and then thread your barrel for a moderator. It is not an expensive job either. Rob.
