spring rape

We have been keeping our eye on some spring rape about 3" high; as a lot of birds had been dropping in this week and yesterday morning we arrived nice and early to see about 300 hundred lift off the ground.

We sat and watched for them returning, so as to decide where to set up. After about half an hour we set up by a hedgerow with the wind coming in at an angle from our left.

We put out the magnet, flapper, 20 deeks and a couple of home made angels.

The birds were dropping in like bricks from far away or very high and we had some good sport for an hour 1/2 then we had some very sporadic lulls. not like the usual one , then returning in droves.

We ended up with 38 shot and 30 picked up.

Sunday.

I returned this morning for a look and only spotted 30-40 spread out. I drove round for over an hour and found no more so returned to the rape and set up down the bottom of the field in the shade (for a while) and shot 47 up till 12.00pm and then they disappeared in the heat.

AND SO DID I.

Sittiing here with 2 large cans of ice cold Carling Black Label.???

Crop not too good alot of bare patches and rape plants about 2" high.
