I have a new Go Po Session and would like to mount on an OU shotgun, can anyone advise on a suitable mount please and possible supplier. Thanks.

A very nice right up, could have almost been there myself having been drawn into the description.

Could not hit a barn dooor this afternoon, 18 birds for 61 shots; however did keep the birds off of the field for several hours. I had hoped that the wind would have kept the birds reasonably low, but no such luck and they would not decoy at all. Tried the rotary which only seemed to make things worse, pushing the birds even further away. Nevertheless a very pleasant 4 hours was spent in great setting.

Well, it proved to be a thankless day. Fired one shot (missed) and they did not return. Nice day out in the fresh air!

I would be interested to know what others do when they change their vehicle. I have just changed vehicles and was planning to let the six farms that i have permission over know that I have changed, as I am often parked up watching for birds, but a friend said that he never bothers. I just feel I have a responsibility to let them know, mainly so they know who is 'hanging around' What do others do?

I had a similar incident a couple of years ago, I had (have) written permission from a farmer (tenant) and was about to set up to shoot when the keeper appeared and started on about me not having permission and telling me to ****** off. I called the farmer who appeared on the scene, I thought the farmer and keeper were going to come to blows. I stayed and shot and I have shot there on one more occasion, however I was left feeling very uncomfotable and have not been back there for the last two years.

Out on laid Barley yesterday, a real struggle to get 19, so very impressed with 200+ birds well done.

Thought we might have been in for a big bag today having watched a field for a few days and which had 100's on when we arrived; but sadly not to be ended up with 47 for 10 hrs shooting. Nevertheless it was an enjoyable day.

Just over the border in Somerset and I am also devoid of any pigeons; like Rickyard Shooter the last few years have been really difficult. Having to work extra hard just to get bags above 50, last year the largest bag was 148. I sit here feeling really jealous of others who are having constant reasonable bags.

They want to take pigeons off of the general licence and ensure that an authorised person (don't know who this will be?) is satisfied that appropriate legal methods have been used to control them first. They are suggesting that appropriate methods are scaring or proofing. They have no idea, consultation closes on the 19the May. As many people as possible need to write their address is wildlife.consultation@naturalengland.org.uk sending a copy to SAC would also help

I am going to write to natural England to make my views known on their proposals, which are crazy for farmers and pigeon shooters, but I was wondering if there are any template.letters doing the rounds?

Sounds like you had a good day NickB65 We had our beaters day today, wet and cold here in Somerset. Nevertheless we had a stunning day, the cold seemed to have dragged the birds back into the drives. We had 13 guns shooting and ended up with 312 birds. I personally had a cracking day with 34 birds picked, mixture of pheasant and partridge. But like NickB65 says you cant beat pigeon shooting when you are under that strong flight line.

I use one of these nets but use another net (stealth cammo net) drapped on the outside. Using the two layers allows me to alter the hight and position of the nets giving better observation where its needed most. Using one of those 'thin' nets is not enough on its own, pigeon will always see movement and outline through it.

As Kes say's, hessain sacks seem to work very well, I will often take mine slightly damp which seems to work better than them being bone dry for some reason.

Green with envy! Just spent 15 minutes watching someone pigeon shooting on a section of flattened wheat opposite to a permission of mine. When I say opposite it probably about ½ mile, as the pigeon fly’s, from the nearest boundary on my permission. Green with envy because the pigeon were acting like kamikaze pilots wanting to get into blow holes. The gun had set up their hide on the edge of very large blow hole and clearly in the middle of a flight line; it was a very good looking hide, it took me a while to pick it up. In the 15 minutes I watched through binoculars they killed 11 pigeon, if they keep up that ratio of kills to time they are sure to end up with a large bag by close of play this evening. The envy stems from being denied permission to shoot the ground, having tried to gain permission a few years ago. Also the wheat that is on my permission is still standing up and there is no sign of any blow hole. I keeping my fingers crossed that this wind and rain today may lay some small patches. It was great to see someone having some good shooting.

Mad or what!!!!!

Well I've never done it before and probably will never again, but I manged to kill 2 pigeon for 1 shot - I was blown away and so was the pigeons!!! How rare a shot is this?
