Beno
223 FAC Had my FAC for about a year now only got a 22. on it, but now I am after a 223 for fox and long range vermin but my problem is that I have never handled a centre fire so I am wondering does this go against you when you apply for one or not. I am a very safe shot only shoot when there’s a backdrop. I’ve got quite a lot of land with plenty of hills on it. Any advise would be deeply appreciated. Thanks
adymorris
I applied for my .223 after 18 months and I didn't mention that I had had any proir experience and they granted me one as they also did for my shooting buddy who had his licence for about 14 months using a .22 rimfire - you should be OK
Baldrick
A total lack of experience won't prevent you getting a .223, but some experience will definitely improve your standing in the FEO's eyes.
henry d
It may also help if we knew which area you are from as someone may have experience of that areas FEO and how they think.

Or maybe even offer to take you out to watch them shoot a couple of times. That would help a lot
