the_commoner
i have been keeping my eye on one of the fields on the syndicate over the last few days trying to work out the flights lines, it sowed with peas which are just flowering so not much hope of decoying them down ( ? ), went down with sparkie for an hour on Monday night without a hide just sat in the hedge and watched and bagged a couple each as they came over us last night was a better effort i got there at 6.30pm ish and i watched about 75 get up off the field i was going to set my hide up in ..................... i was set up in no time and they started coming, not huge ammounts just a steady flow unfortunately i was about 30 yards off the flight line so they all ended up as crossers a bit too far away top take a shot, i did have a few come over within range and ended up managing to pick these 5, i packed up at 8.30 ish, a great couple of hours after work - dont think the dog was too impressed though, was a tad hot !!!! the_commoner
not realy dom, and to be honest its no looker and a bit worst for wear now, i was shooting in front of a 8 ft deep hedge and unfortuately a few dropped in, i was wondering along with the dog trying to pick them and got a bit close and fell in the ditch (gun unloaded) which was about 5 ft deep, ended up full of thorns with the gun taking a few more knocks on the way down - its definately no oil painting
the_commoner
and i bet the dog enjoyed every retrieve if i am honest - no ! she is no retriver (and i am no dog trainer), loves hunting up but retrieving is out of pure necessity i reckon
