eddie1980
Hope you can help my understanding with this one. The situation: I house share out in the sticks, used to having a gun around as we have quite a few acres and my dad was always after something with his gun. I have a SGC and most evenings if I am out in the workshop or the garden will have something at hand to deal with the cheekier rabbits and squirrels. Usually getting one or two a night in this seemingly casual way, its probably not making a big impact on the population but at least it keeps them from digging up my lawn. The guy I house share with does not have a SGC but obviously when I am home can use one of mine under supervision, the issue comes when I am out as the guns are secured and he does not have access to them, obviously as soon as he cannot shoot everything comes out to play in the most mocking way and he cannot do anything about it. I have a .22 springer he can use but its not as good at getting the job done. He is considering getting a SGC for himself but I am not sure if this means he can share my cabinet or if he needs one of his own?? In short will he need his own cabinet and guns or can he have access to mine in any way, he'd rather not go to the expense of his own equipment. I suspect getting his own cabinet is probably the better option.

Greenhunter
I used to share my cabinet with my son until I got my FAC. Which he hasn't My FEO was OK with it as we had the usual visit when the lad got his SGC. I'm not sure that your house mate should be using your guns at all, bit of a grey area in my knowledge but someone will put us straight no doubt. Your mate just needs to get his SGC and doesn't need to have your guns listed on it as he can legally borrow them under the 72 hour rule. I hope he doesn't know where you keep your cabinet keys
Cosd
The sure way to answer your question is to speak to your fire arms officer, but I can't see why you wouldn't be able to share a cabinet if you are both SGC holders and guns are down as shared. Highlander
Your FAO is not your enemy so why not put in a call to them and get their thoughts on the matter? You don't have a location on your profile so we don't know which area you come under but if you have an awkward FAO there's always BASC to help (assuming you're a member)

"obviously as soon as he cannot shoot everything comes out to play in the most mocking way and he cannot do anything about it." it means **** law - as soon as he cant get his hands on a gun rabbits are strolling around the whole place with impunity!
